1. How are teams selected?
Teams are selected by a committee of coaches based on evaluations during tryouts. Coaches assess each athlete’s overall performance, including skills, technique, athleticism, attitude, leadership, game sense, and effort in game situations.
2. Will players only be evaluated on skill?
No. While skill and technique are important, coaches also evaluate attitude, work ethic, coachability, leadership, competitiveness, and how athletes perform in team and game situations.
3. Are players grouped by age?
Yes. Athletes are grouped into their proper age divisions according to USAV age guidelines during the tryout process.
4. Can my child play in an older age division?
Possibly. Moving a player up an age division is considered only by administration and only if it is determined to be in the best interest of the athlete, the academy, and the success of the team.
5. Are positions considered during team selection?
Yes. Teams are built based on positional needs, so athletes are evaluated within the context of the position(s) they play.

During tryouts, athletes may be called to speak directly with the coach selecting the team. At that time, they may be offered a position on the roster.
8. How long do we have to accept a team offer?
Families will have up to 5 minutes to accept or decline the offer. This timeline is necessary out of courtesy to other athletes waiting for placement opportunities.
9. Can we leave and decide later?
No. Spots are not held or guaranteed if an offer is declined or if a decision is delayed beyond the allotted time.
10. What happens if we accept a position?
Once a position is accepted, families will immediately complete the required commitment paperwork and pay the initial deposit to secure the roster spot.
11. What documents are required after accepting a team offer?
Families will sign the Athlete Parent Commitment Form and complete the required USAV commitment paperwork.
12. Is the initial deposit required immediately?
Yes. The initial deposit is required at the time the position is accepted in order to secure the athlete’s spot on the team.

After signing the USAV commitment, releases will not be granted unless the athlete moves out of the Central Florida area.
14. Do we need to register before tryouts?
